Hi! I’m Sunny, a botanist-turned-health-coach. I love work that involves using my brain and body at the same time. This led me to a first career as a botanist, where my studies focused on scientific principles, fieldwork, data collection and analysis, and complex pattern recognition of environmental variables. Coupled with my love of being outdoors, it was a perfect fit for me for 25 years.
During my menopause transformation, which involved some long-lasting injuries and health issues that interfered with my identity as an athletic person, I reconnected with my underlying values of optimism, resilience, and growth. For the first time in my life, I hired a team of trained individuals to help me move through my mental and physical challenges. I learned firsthand the power of empathetic listening combined with evidence-based action. I wanted to be that transformative support for others. I found my second calling as a health and wellness coach.
I earned several certifications to support my career shift, including a Master Health Coach from Precision Nutrition, a Certified Wellness Coach from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and a Certified Personal Trainer from NASM. I am currently working to earn the prestigious National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach designation from the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC), as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach from NASM. Combined with my life experience, these certifications give me a strong foundation from which to build effective, individualized coaching programs.
I am more than a botanist-turned-health-coach. I am a wife and mother, outdoor enthusiast, knitter, sewist, dog lover, student of life, forgetful gardener, novice herbalist, lifelong athlete, and logical yet intuitive introvert with a deep desire to help people discover their own strengths and apply them toward living the healthy life they envision.
